Missed it, or need coverage now?
You can enroll outside Open Enrollment if you have a qualifying life event. Pennie's examples include losing health coverage, getting married, having a baby, or moving. That opens a Special Enrollment Period, and the window is limited.
Private plans run on a different calendar. You can apply for one any time of year, as long as you qualify medically.
Why start before November
Rates and rules change every year, and the plan that fit last year may not fit this one. Starting early means your options are laid out, your questions are answered, and you enroll on your schedule instead of in the last-week rush.
